The Deschutes River Trail’s Pioneer Reach connects a series of parks through Bend. The district’s official trail page describes the section around McKay, Miller’s Landing and Pioneer parks, and is a useful starting point for selecting a river walk with a clear turnaround.
Riverbend Park provides another starting option in the Old Mill District, with paved and unpaved paths and connections toward Farewell Bend Park. Look at the official maps before deciding which side of the river or bridge connection belongs in your route.
Choose a distance that leaves time to stop and enjoy the river. Review current trail notices, keep to designated paths and check the route surface if anyone in the group needs a paved outing. This guide is for walking; use the district’s separate activity rules when planning river access or water recreation.
