The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary combines indoor exhibits with a nature preserve. General visitors should head to the museum building at 1 Nature Place; the Science Resource Center is a separate venue used for programs and appointments.

Chestnut Square Historic Village at 315 South Chestnut Street offers a different kind of discovery, with museum exhibits and tours focused on McKinney history. Its own website lists tours and community programs, so select an offering that fits your children’s ages and interests.

These are two separate destinations rather than a promised single-day schedule. Check each venue’s current admission information, weather notices, and program requirements before choosing your outing.

This is an evergreen planning guide. Confirm access, opening times, admission, and program schedules with the venue before visiting.
